Academy swordmaster team Jan Bryant and Dan Speaker with Master and Commander director Peter Weir
The Academy team of swordmasters Dan Speaker and Jan Bryant designs fights for film from the ground up in order to create unique work for each project. They are specialists at not only training actors and stunt people to perform specific sequences, but also working with the director and designers to integrate those sequences so that they advance the story. To that end, they can work from the beginning stages of concept all the way to the final edit, or provide any of the stages in between—including historical research, style consultation, cast-specific training and weapon design.
Jan and Dan are experts in their field and have trained actors and designed fights for the films Hook, Army of Darkness, Hot Shots Part Deux, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Hidalgo, and a host of others, as well as numerous television productions, video games and live stage projects.
